WHAT IS PAMET ?

by Nile Alconcel

PAMET is the acronym for PHILIPPINE ASSOCIATION OF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGISTS. It is a non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit organization formed for educational, scientific and charitable purposes. It has existed for years in the Philippines and continues to be a very active organization to this day. When some members immigrated to the USA, they formed PAMET most notably in Chicago, New York and New Jersey and functioned independently from the Philippines. On September 3, 1988, these chapters converged at the Rizal Center in Chicago and formed a national organization for Filipino Medical Technologists in the United States of America, thus PAMET-USA was born. Since then 12 more chapters have been formed: Southern and Northern California, Connecticutt, Hawaii, Texas, Washington DC, Michigan, Indiana, Georgia, Nevada, and most recently Florida.

PAMET-MICHIGAN was formed on March 13, 1995 with merely eleven members. Presntly there are 50 active members and hope to increase it's membership each year.
